They always talk about "the few" who bravely defended Britain against the Luftwaffe. Actually, there was a "few", which was even fewer: the 101st fighter group of the Royal Hungarian Air Force. Their motto said: "Led by courage, escorted by luck"

They were often outnumbered 1 to 6 regarding the escort fighters, not talking about the heavy bombers they had to face. They knew they would probably lose the war, but they never gave up on defending the Hungarian skies. Those who survived were arrested and tortured during the communist regime which followed the nazi terror. The communism completely deleted their names from the pages of history...

Some of them still live, and wrote books about their deeds, thoughts, happiness, sorrow, bravery and fears. Now it's up to us to keep their memory alive. The memory of our forgotten heroes.
